1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Archie Note (also referred to as "ArchieNote", "the Service", "we", "us", or "our"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.

2. Description of Service

Archie Note is a web-based platform that provides note-taking, quiz generation, AI-powered chat assistance, and learning management tools. Our services include:

• Creating, organizing, and managing notes and notebooks
• Generating quizzes from your notes using AI technology
• AI-powered chat assistant (Archie) for discussing and learning from your notes
• File upload and processing capabilities
• Labeling and organization features for notes
• Spaced repetition and review features

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You may register using an email address and password, or by signing in with a supported third-party OAuth provider (currently Google and Facebook). You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. When using a third-party sign-in provider, your use of that provider is governed by its own terms of service and privacy policy.

3.2 Account Responsibility

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

3.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms of Service or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason.

4. User Content and Intellectual Property

4.1 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to the content you create, upload, or store on the Service, including notes, notebooks, quizzes, and other materials ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, and process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

4.2 Content Restrictions

You agree not to upload, post, or transmit any User Content that:

• Violates any law, regulation, or third-party right
• Is defamatory, abusive, harassing, or otherwise objectionable
• Contains viruses, malware, or other harmful code
• Infringes upon intellectual property rights of others
• Is spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional material

4.3 Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Pharos Lab and protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

5. AI Services and Credit System

5.1 AI Features

Our Service uses artificial intelligence, powered by Claude via AWS Bedrock (Anthropic), to provide quiz generation and chat assistance features. These AI services are provided "as is" and we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

5.2 Credit System

Archie Note operates on a pay-as-you-go credit system — there are no subscriptions or recurring fees. AI-powered features consume credits from your account balance at the following rates:

• Quiz question generated: 1 credit per question
• Chat response from Archie: 1 credit per message
• PDF upload & analysis: 1 credit per 20 pages

We reserve the right to modify credit costs and usage limits at any time with reasonable notice. Current pricing is always available on our Pricing page.

5.3 Free Credits and Promotions

New users receive a one-time grant of free credits upon completing account setup. The amount of free credits may vary based on promotional offers and is subject to change at our discretion. Additional credits may be earned through our referral program — each successful referral grants the inviter bonus credits.

5.4 Credit Expiration and Recharge

Credits do not expire by default. Users may optionally configure a recharge mode in their account settings:

• No recharge (default): Credits are granted once at signup and through referrals. No automatic resets or charges.
• Monthly reset: Your credit balance resets to a chosen amount on a monthly cycle.
• Auto top-up: Your balance is automatically replenished when it reaches zero.

Recharge modes that involve payment are subject to the payment terms described in Section 9.

5.5 AI Limitations

You acknowledge that AI-generated content, including quiz questions and chat responses, may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it.

6. File Uploads and Processing

You may upload files (such as PDFs and documents) to the Service for processing. We process these files to extract text and create notes, but we do not permanently store your uploaded documents on our servers. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and process any files you submit.

6b. Referrals and Invitations

The Service includes an invitation feature that allows you to refer others to Archie Note. When you submit an invitation, you provide the name and email address of the person you are inviting. By doing so, you represent that you have that person's permission to share their contact information with us for the sole purpose of sending them the invitation. You agree not to use this feature to send unsolicited communications or to submit contact information without the recipient's knowledge.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Use the Service to transmit any malicious code or harmful content
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity

8. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We may perform scheduled or unscheduled maintenance that may temporarily interrupt service availability.

9. Credits and Payments

9.1 Credit-Based Model

Archie Note uses a credit-based pricing model with no subscriptions or recurring fees. All features of the platform are available to all users — credits are only consumed when using AI-powered actions (quiz generation, chat, and PDF analysis). You can view your current credit balance and manage recharge settings in your account settings.

9.2 Purchasing Credits

If you choose a paid recharge mode (monthly reset or auto top-up), payments are processed through third-party payment processors. You agree to pay all fees associated with your selected recharge configuration. Credit purchases are non-refundable unless otherwise required by law.

9.3 Pricing Changes

We reserve the right to modify credit pricing, recharge amounts, and available recharge options at any time. We will notify users of material pricing changes with reasonable notice. Credits already in your account will not be affected by price changes.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services, including but not limited to:

• Claude via AWS Bedrock (Generative AI) — for AI-powered quiz generation and chat assistance. Your note content is processed through AWS Bedrock, which hosts Claude models provided by Anthropic.
• Google (OAuth) — optional sign-in provider. Governed by Google's Terms of Service.
• Facebook / Meta (OAuth) — optional sign-in provider. Governed by Meta's Terms of Service.
• Supabase (self-hosted) — for user authentication and account management
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 — for temporary file storage during upload processing
• PostHog — for product analytics and usage tracking. PostHog collects behavioral event data (such as sign-up and invitation actions) and session engagement data to help us understand how users interact with the Service.

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR BE AVAILABLE ON AN UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE BASIS.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pharos Lab, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms of Service.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

16. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature available in your account settings, or by contacting us directly. We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms of Service.

17. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Pharos Lab regarding the use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
